ETÈRA

by Michele Pennetta

Mirko, a young smuggler, is escorting two sisters, Nina and Lejla, across the border. Their destination: an old racetrack converted into a private club, run with an iron fist by Mirko's mother, Ofelia. But the journey does not go as planned: Lejla is captured by a group of paramilitaries. Nina wakes up alone in a room at the club.

In this isolated place, where time seems to have stopped, she is immersed in the strange world of young people - the “tortorelle” - who gravitate around Ofelia with disturbing obedience. Initially suspicious, Nina gradually opens up to this microcosm, desperately searching for her sister.

As Nina loses her bearings, she crosses paths with Mirko, a reserved and sensitive young man torn between the weight of his bond with his mother, his desire for emancipation, and a forbidden relationship with one of the lovebirds.
